About this object

At seven feet, this commanding floor lamp rises from its round two-tier teak table base to a full height of 7 to 7.5 feet — the lamp arm curving outward to position the shade exactly where light belongs. Made by a Jodhpur craftsman who spent two years studying Art Nouveau furniture in museum catalogues before building his first lamp-table, each piece takes three weeks to complete. He produces only twelve annually and has declined larger orders twice, ensuring each work maintains the three-generation pedigree of Rajasthan's foremost furniture craft district. The base is built in solid teak in the Art Nouveau manner: three sinuous legs curve outward before tapering to their feet, supporting a two-tier body with hand-pierced fretwork lower shelf and solid or glass top surface. The lamp standard rises as a single continuous teak column, terminating in a forked finial before the arm sweeps forward. The grain of the teak remains visible through warm polish at every point — no veneer, no composite, no shortcuts. The fabric shade varies by availability and is confirmed with the atelier at time of order. This is not a lamp that asks permission — it is a room-defining statement piece drawn from the organic grammar of 1890s European furniture, when a single object was allowed to be simultaneously useful, structural, and beautiful. At this scale and craft level, full-height Art Nouveau integrated lamp-tables have no India market comparables. Western equivalents at this specification sell for $800–$1,800. The shade changes with every batch, meaning no two pieces leaving the workshop are identical.
